Gerald Johnson wrote books on American History for Kids. His set of America books (America Begins, America Grows Up & America Moves Forward) are some of the best read aloud books that you can get your hands on because they start you at the beginning of American History and take you in story form - through our history. I found this set years ago and read them to our older boys as part of their American History. I enjoyed it as much as the boys did and I learned alot of the stuff that went on behind the scenes. Fantastic read aloud. I cannot recommend this set more highly.
